Mardi 16/04

Today in class we shared the kinds of cuisine we like and where we eat lunch in general.  We discussed the verbs on pg 144 and then read pgs 142-3 outloud in small groups and discussed some cultural differences in grocery shopping between France and the US.

TEC:  We read pages 142-3 out loud in table groups (including gray box at beginning).  After each section, answer the questions:  “qu’est-ce que c’est?” and “Qu’est-ce qu’ils vendent?” in your cahier.

A Faire:  En général, à quelle heure prends-tu tes trois repas du jour ? (le petit déjeuner/le déjeuner/le diner).  Write 3 complete sentences answering this question.

Lundi 15/04

Today in class we started some food vocabulary, practiced using mettre in the sense of “to put on clothes”, and did a listening activity.

A Faire:  Use the correct conjugation of mettre and the clothing vocab on pgs 346-7 to answer the following questions:

Quels vêtements est-ce que tu mets quand….
     1.  Il fait chaud ?
     2.   Il fait froid ?
     3. Tu vas à la plage ?
     4.  Tu vas à un concert ?
     5. Tu assistes à un mariage ?

Today we reviewed irregular verbs by playing a team conjugation game, we took a quiz, and then finished “Les Visiteurs” (the film we started before Spring Break).

Mardi 09/04

Today in class we got new seats, spoke lots of French while reviewing for the quiz, did 2 listening activities and reviewed some clothing vocab.

A Faire:  Interview your partner with the following questions (clique ici), then write his/her answers in the il/elle form in your cahier.

Jeudi 04/04

Today we reviewed some irregular verbs and learned a new one “dormir” (your favorite!)  We did a tête à tête (speaking activity) with partners and finished up the “début de l’art modern” powerpoint.  For PowerPoint, clique ICI!  Some advanced students came to share their experiences taking upper level French classes in preparation for the course fair on Monday.

A Faire:  Answer questions in complete sentences:
  1.  En général, est-ce que tu dors bien?
  2. Combien d’heures dors-tu ?
  3. Qui dort chez toi ?  (ta famille ? ta mère/ton père ?
  4. A quelle heure vas-tu dormir ce soir ?
  5. A quelle heure vas-tu dormir samedi soir ?
Travail en Classe (TEC):  Vocabulary/notes on PowerPoint presentation

Devoirs: 1) Write a paragraph reflection in English about PowerPoint.   What did you learn ? What did you like/find interesting?  Write 2 sentences in French using “appreciation” vocab to include in your reflection. 2) pg 111 # 14 (7-9 only)

Extra Credit Opportunity: Le Jour de la Terre

Make an Earth Day Poster in French.  All writing must be approved before put on the poster.  Final posters due by Friday 4/19.
Criteria:
Must be in color, poster size (11 x 14 or larger), and quality work.
Must be legible (clearly readable) with poster size appropriate large print IN FRENCH!
Must have a title (a saying or question would work well.)
Must include 3 suggestions (use imperative!) to raise awareness and/or encourage change.
Must include a minimum of 5 images related to the topic/text.

Mardi 19/03

Today in class we talked about whether or not we traveled over the vacation, learned 6 new irregular verbs (2 groups of 3 “cousin” verbs—see page 110 in the book), and started discussing the beginning of modern art as part of our art history project.  (PowerPoint will be posted on Thursday after completion.)

Lundi 01/04

Today in class we said how our vacation was and then learned about le Poisson d’Avril (French April Fool’s Day).  We colored some paper fish for pranks.  For PowerPoint, click HERE!

Today we watched a movie, Les Visiteurs, and turned in the Lecon 5 packet.

Devoirs: Practice 5 times/10 min each for adults, get signatures.  Try to spread out during vacation so you’re not so rusty speaking French when you return!  Practice verbs pgs 96, 100!!

Today in class we discussed the Paris/Val Sans Retour readings, played a game, and started the movie we will watch during class on Thursday.

A Faire:  pg 101 #4:  1, 2, 4, 6 (answer in complete sentences and address all questions)

Today in class we shared the animal vocab words found for homework, started our art history culture project (See TEC!) and corrected quizzes in class.  ALL QUIZZES MUST BE CORRECTED BY TUESDAY 3/18 FOR CREDIT!

A Faire:  Write 2 sentences in French using “Appreciation” vocab to respond to PowerPoint.  Write short paragraph reflection on PowerPoint in English.

Mardi 12/03

Today in class we continued to talk about our weekend activities, went over new irregular verbs, learned new vocab (pg 100) and looked at a PowerPoint (Click HERE to view) that contained 8 vocab words to express opinions (l’appréciation positive/l’appréciation négative).

A Faire:  pg 101 #5 (connect pics with descriptions)

Devoirs: Write an affirmative and a negative sentence for each of the 8 new vocab words in the PowerPoint,16 sentences total.  Ex.  (Je suis fan de Blazers, Je ne suis pas fan de Lakers).  Look up 3 new animals that are not in the book to add to vocabulary (use dictionary/wordreference.com).  Don’t forget articles!!!


Test make-up by Wednesday end of the day (unless you’ve already made another arrangement with me!)

Déjeuner français- Thursday Rm. 128 (for make-up participation or extra credit!)


Quarter ends in 2 ½ weeks!  Turn in missing work before Spring Break!!!!

Lundi 11/03

Today in class we discussed the vocab on pg 96 and spoke French.

A Faire:  pg 97 #2 write answers only (going/going to do) then do orally with partner.

Devoirs: Add sortir, voir, prendre, and nettoyer to verb chart.  Do 5 visual dictionary entries for vocab on pg 96 (include image, word/expression, sentence!) 


All Quizzes must be made up by the end of the day Wednesday !

Today in class we did some review before the quiz and students had the opportunity to ask questions.  Then we took the quiz.
