Today in class we did a lot of oral practice with the question list and the homework.  We went over telling time, some strategies for success in a language class and we started a listening activity.

Devoirs (Homework):  Study question lists 1-3, number crossword 11-20, write out complete sentence answers to #10, 11, 13 (Q list #3) and #10 (Q list #1) for each day that it is different (Lundi, il est à….; Mardi, il est à).
Quiz next Thursday over question lists 1-3 !!!! (Review: question lists, numbers, time, days of the week, months, seasons, weather)

Mardi 18/9

Today in class we talked about school vocabulary, our class schedules and finished up the group brainstorm from last week about learning strategies.

A Faire:  Write out your Monday class schedule using school subject vocab pg. 5 (We made a bigger list of classes on the board—handout to come!)  Then write a sentence for each period of the day saying what you study.  Ex:  Période 1, j’étudie le français; Période 2, j’étudie….

Travail en Classe:  We set 2 individual goals for 1st quarter on our goal sheet (see handouts).  Goals must be achievable and measurable!  Ex:  I will study French for 15 min every day I don’t have class; I will complete all homework; I will make 10 flashcards/week with new vocab…

Devoirs (Homework):  Study, memorize, practice out loud Question Lists.  Livre (book) pg 6-7, complete the already started sentences to make complete sentence answers! 

Lundi 17/09

Today in class we did a lot of oral practice with question list #3, a warm-up, and went over the homework.

A Faire :  Réponds à phrases complètes! (Respond in complete sentences!)

Think of 5 amis (friends)…  Comment s’appelle ton copain/ta copine ?  Quel âge a-t-il/elle ?

Devoirs (Homework):  Practice out loud question Lists 1-3 for 10 minutes for an adult.  Have them sign in cahier (notebook) in devoirs section, number crossword 1-10 only, bring ID/ID# for book checkout.

Semaine 2 (Week 2)

Lundi (Mon) 10/9:  Today in class we started to review questions from French 1.  Students also filled out a survey for me about their personal interests and favorite class activities.

Devoirs (Homework):  Get binder and notebook (For by Tuesday 11/9), Read syllabus, share with parents/guardians, get signatures!  Study, memorize, practice out loud Question List #1   

Mardi (Tue) 11/9:  Today in class we organized our cahier (notebook) and classeur (binder), practiced questions, and saw a presentation about 9/11 and the commemoration of that day by the French and other countries around the world.

Jeudi (Thur) 13/9:   Today in class we made a birthday line by only speaking French, we finished setting up our binders, we started a group brainstorm about learning/memorizing strategies, and we decorated our cahier with name, 3 French words and 3 images that represent you.  We also got a seating chart.

A Faire (Must do/warm-up):  What questions would you need to ask to find your place in the birthday line ?  What if you have the same birthday and you need to find out who is older?

Devoirs (Homework):  Study, memorize, practice out loud Question List #3.  Write out complete sentence answers to #s: 2, 3, 4, 14, 15 in devoirs (homework) section of cahier.

Semaine 1 (Week 1)

Mercredi (Wed) 05/09:  Today in class we did some speaking practice to start the year off on the right foot.  We practiced greeting a partner (Bonjour/Salut), saying our names (je m'appelle...) and how old we are (j'ai...ans), as well as our favorite colors (je préfère...bleu/vert/rose/etc...)

Devoirs (Homework):  Get a 3-ring binder and a spiral notebook/composition book for in-class journal.   

Jeudi (Thur)  06/09:  Today in class we reviewed numbers 1-100, did a group quiz over some French culture and language facts,  and discussed the class syllabus.
