Vendredi 21/03

Today we went over some of the common errors made in writing French and ways to revise the paragraphs written about our TAs Alanna and Raphael.  The paragraphs will serve as a writing proficiency assessment which means you must meet proficiency to pass the quarter.

A Faire:  Make corrections on “Qui est notre assistant?” fixes/common errors.


Devoirs :  TA paragraph revision, study/take notes pg 144, 146, 148 (be ready to talk about food !)  Study/memorize verbs.  Deadline to get 100% for a crêpe party is Friday after break!  

*Watch French movies, listen to French music, speak as much French as possible!!

Today we did some practice with the animal/place vocab pg 100.  Bring any questions you have to class Wednesday! (We can discuss them before the Quiz!)

A Faire:  Utilisez le vocabulaire pg. 100 et le dictionnaire dans vos livres.  Cherchez des autres mots (words) aussi !  Ecrivez à phrases complètes !!

Today we reviewed regular and irregular verbs and l’imperatif for the quiz.  We also talked about the difference between “venir de + place” and “venir de + infinitive”.

A Faire:  Make observations about patterns that exist with the endings of regular verbs/conjugations of the big 4 irregular verbs & pg 69 #7

Devoirs :  Finish packet & handouts: Faire, venir, avoir ou être (front only) ; Faire/Venir Review (both sides). Also pg 69 #6 (say what each person in column A was just doing in column B (venir de + infinitive) and what he/she/they are going to do (aller + infinitive) in column C—Be logical!!

Today was intended for review of verbs and structures for the quiz next week.  There was a substitute and so there are, I’m sure, varying rates of accomplishment with this (and some of you even learned German, I heard!)

Vendredi 07/03

Today we practiced aller, discussed the Mardi Gras/Carnaval PowerPoint and the vocab pgs 98 & 100, then learned the verb “Venir”.  We played “loto” with être/avoir/faire expressions and discussed a “verbs for crêpes” challenge.

A Faire:  Respond in English to these questions about Mardi Gras/Carnaval:
  1. What did you already know that was reaffirmed in the PowerPoint?
  2. What surprised you?
  3. Describe 2 new things you learned?
TEC:  read “note culturelle” pg 98, out loud, in partners.  Discuss what you understood.  Write a 3-5 sentence summary in English.

Vendredi 28/02

Today we practiced “depuis” and had a chance to play with the fortune tellers we made.  We took the verb and vocabulary quiz, learned some new vocab around weekend activities and played battleship with verb conjugations.

A Faire:  pg 97 #2 (Write answers to both questions, do orally in partners)

Devoirs :  Read pages 94-95 and take notes over what each person does/likes to do on the weekends (be prepared to use this in class next time!), Leçon 4 packet #5B
