Vendredi 30/05

Today we learned about le passé composé avec être, worked on revising our imparfait paragraphs and watched the rest of Paris Top 10.

A Faire:  pg 119 #6 (look at the agreement on the past participle of aller to decide who is being talked about, write that person’s name and the correct conjugation of the helping verb être)

TEC:  Paris Top 10, imparfait revisions

Devoirs :  pg 120 #7 (say where each person went and what they did—soyez logique!), final draft of revised  imparfait sentences/paragraph typed and ready to turn in, PC paragraph (see below for criteria!)

PC paragraph criteria:  6 sentences minimum, talk about somewhere you went and what you did there, can be about the same age as imparfait sentences or a different age, use je form and plural form (nous/vous/ils/elles) at least twice!  DOUBLE SPACED FOR TURN IN!

Imparfait paragraph criteria:  15 sentences minimum in imparfait, quality and variety of vocabulary, multiple features/aspects of physique/personality, TYPED (not double spaced for final), conventions (punctuation, spelling, accents, etc)

Mercredi 28/05

Today we reviewed the formation of the passé composé, practiced forming questions with it and add some irregular past participles to the mix.  I went over how to understand the correction codes I used to revise the rough drafts (imparfait) and some common errors students were making with the imparfait.

A Faire:  pg 117 #3 (write 3 sentences for each one, make at least 1 a negative sentence!)


Devoirs :  pg 117 #4 ( write the question using inversion or est-ce que and your answer using passé composé), revise draft and bring it with you to class next time as well as any questions you have for revising!!

Vendredi 23/05

Today we practiced singing “Tous le garcons et les filles” for our sing-off next week, watched a few dialogue presentations, learned about the other form of the past tense (le passé composé) and watched a little of Paris Top 10.


A Faire:  copy the questions on the first slide into cahier, answer the questions for each image (use singular/plural forms when appropriate.)

TEC:  pg 105 #1 (say what they bought)

Devoirs :  pg 105 #2 (answers only), pg 107 #5 (say if you did/didn’t do the things last weeked---answers will be either affirmative or negative)  BE CONSCIENTIOUS IN YOUR WORK!

Mercredi 21/05

Today we practiced how to describe what we used to be like (physique/personality) using être/avoir in l’imparfait.  We reviewed adjectives and particularly how to talk about hair and eyes in French.  We presented restaurant dialogues and listened to our song.

A Faire:  Add a description of your physique/personality to your imparfait mini-project (10 sentences about an age under 12).  Write at least 5 sentences (some may be things you used to do)


Devoirs pg 320 #6 (say what people did/didn’t used to do 100 years ago), 15 sentence rough draft, DOUBLE SPACED and neatly written/typed of imparfait mini-project—to turn in!!

Today we listened to our song “Tous les garçons et les filles” and watched Paris Top 10.

Handouts/Class Materials:  Tous les garçons et les filles

Devoirs:  Write 10 sentence using imparfait about yourself at any age under 12.  Describe what you used to do/eat/watch/play/etc.  Use Leçon 23 packet pg 191 B as inspiration if you get stuck!

Today we practiced some familiar questions (weather/time) in the imparfait, presented restaurant dialogues, and watched some of Paris Top 10.

Devoirs :  Leçon 23 packet pg 189-190 #3 (say what people were/weren’t doing in 1900-soyez logique!), Leçon 23 packet pg 190 #1 (photo de vacances—recycle from the question to answer!), study verbs!!

Mercredi 14/05

Today we practiced more imparfait and learned to use the verb être.  We practiced dialogues and reviewed l’article partitif with an oral activity.

A Faire:  pg 318 #4 (say where people were, using être, and what they were doing by putting the verb in parentheses in the proper imperfect form)

Devoirs pg 170 #7 (complete sentences using l’article partitif et indefini), lecon 23 packet #2 (very similar to A faire…change “se reposer” to “me reposer” and it means to rest)

Today we had a pop quiz, practiced dialogues, reviewed l’article partitif, and started learning l’imparfait (past tense-see pg 316).

Today we reviewed the partitive articles (some) and learned the negative forms, de/d’ (any). We also started practicing dialogues in class (ATTENTION: Dialogue presentations start Friday 5/16—completely memorized!)

Vendredi 02/05

Today we did some oral practice and learned the expression “tiens. Voilà…”  We also learned about the partitive articles (pg 158).  Then we had our fête de crêpe.

Devoirs : Pop quiz coming: study all verbs (meanings and conjugations, regular and irregular!), pg 159 #5 (use corresponding partitive article to write question and your answer to the question-we'll be using these in class!.)
