Jeudi 29/01

Today we practiced some new “Faire expressions” and vocabulary to use with them. I continued project interviews while students worked on the Expression review handout and played Battleship with expressions.

Lundi 26/01

Today we practiced talking about what courses we take/study using the question “De quels cours fais-tu?”.  We also practiced for interviews (starting tomorrow!!)

A Faire:  pg 59 #7: DO #1 ONLY!!  Complete sentence for each question.

Devoirs Etre/Avoir/Faire expression practice back side #3 (faire expression practice), PRACTICE for interviews/presentations :  be able to talk at length and answer questions about your creature !!)

Jeudi 22/01:

Today we learned and practiced “Faire expressions” and practiced projects.

A Faire:  pg 59 #6, write questions (est-ce que/inversion) and your answers.  Be sure to use “faire de” and make any necessary contractions.


DevoirsPRACTICE PROJECT! (interviews/presentations start Tuesday!), pg 59 #5 (2 sentences for each subject, 1 saying what he/she studies using faire and 1 saying what job he/she would logically want to do based on the study), memorize “faire” conjugations, Be prepared to respond to the question “De quels cours fais-tu?” (use faire to talk about all the classes you take and be ready to share in the warm-up on Monday)

Mardi 20/01

Today we practiced avoir expressions, talked about the oral presentation portion of the project and practiced projects in partners.

*Because of the fire drill during 4th period some things are different between 3rd and 4th periods, so please pay close attention to YOUR period!

3rd period only, A Faire:  pg 57 #3 (use “avoir envie de” to say that the subjects listed “feel like/want” to do the activities given.  Then use “avoir besoin de” to say that that subject “needs” in order to do that activity.  Choose from the blue box, each only used once so you may need to use process of elimination to figure some out…like #1)


Devoirs :  ALL:  PRACTICE PROJECT!! (PRESENTATIONS BEGIN NEXT TUESDAY!!), memorize/review the verb “faire” (pg 58), missing/makeup work by Friday.
3rd Only:  pg 58 #4 (must write the whole sentence using a conjugation of “faire”)

Jeudi 15/01

Today we reviewed physical and personality descriptions and learned some new avoir expressions.

A Faire:  write a sentence for each NEW avoir expression using a different subject (je, tu, il, vous, etc.) for each.


Devoirs : finish final version of writing and visual for project (start practicing!!!) and do reading work sample (be sure to take notes in the margins and answer the questions!)

Today we practiced profession vocabulary and structures, discussed the project and did a peer edit on the rough draft of the writing, and watched the film.

A Faire:  Peer edit…complete a peer edit form for a classmate


Devoirs :  C’est/il est devoirs 1, revise rough draft of creature project and make final version, work on visual for creature project.

Lundi 12/01

Today we learned the main questions we’ll be using around professions and did some review of avoir expressions.

Qu’est-ce que tu fais dans la vie?  Qu’est-ce que tu veux être plus tard ?/Qu’est-ce que tu voudrais faire plus tard ?  Que fait ta mère ?/Quel est le travail de ta mère ?  Quelle est la profession de ta mère ?

A Faire:  Write 2 sentences about your creature.  1 must use an “être expression” (see pg 44) and 1 must use an “avoir expression” (see pg 56)

Devoirs :  Devoir-professions 2-back side (use forms of c’est/il est as indicated and the vocab in your book, notes, c’est/il est packet, complete sentences!!),  be ready for peer-editing of creature project (have a draft!!)

Jeudi 08/01

Today we practiced “c’est” and “il est”, reviewed how to give physical descriptions, learned some new avoir expressions and took a quiz.  We watched some of our film as well

A Faire:  Answer the question “Comment est-il/elle?” by writing 5 sentences about each of the slides.  Use both c’est and il/elle est and describe physical and personality.

Mardi 06/01

Today we did our Sondage/Loto (making bingos by asking questions and finding people who fit the criteria), learned some profession vocabulary and the rules around when to use “C’est” or “il est/elle est”.  At the end, we watched the clip vidéo for Hey Oh.

A Faire:  PowerPoint 1:  take notes over any new profession vocabulary. 

PowerPoint 2:  Answer the questions at the beginning with complete sentences.  Describe the four people at the end using a “c’est/ce sont” sentence and a “il/elle est… ils/elles sont…” sentence.



Devoirs :  pg 51 #10, make sure you have a DOUBLE SPACED, 15 SENTENCE MINIMUM rough draft of your creature project for peer editing tomorrow!  Study avoir/être/ER/IR/RE verbs

Lundi 05/01

Today we reviewed être/avoir, worked on questions for a survey game we will play Tuesday and briefly discussed the “Ma Créature” project.

A FaireSondage/Loto… use your book/notes/understanding to decide which questions that you already know would help you find out the information listed in each box.  Write the question on the line.  In many cases the question will not ask exactly what is in the box but should allow you to gather that information.  Be sure to use "Est-ce que" or inversion!  Prepare your own response in French to the question as well.


Devoirs :  Etre/Avoir/Faire expression practice #1 (front side only), make sure you have a DOUBLE SPACED, 15 SENTENCE MINIMUM rough draft of your creature project for peer editing tomorrow, study avoir/être for pop quiz!
